9th Kufonisia Classical Music Festival 2024

For the ninth consecutive year, the Kufonisia Classical Music Festival continues to unite the West with the East, the North with the South, and the past with the future.
This year’s impressive program of events, under the artistic direction of its founder, conductor and pianist Cornelius Michailidis, maintains the high artistic quality for which it has been known all these years, contributing to the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the festival.
Experience a Unique Music Festival on Koufonisia
Koufonisia is a place where artists from all around the world come together to celebrate music and culture. Renowned musicians with selections from the Caucasus of Asia, Central and Southern Europe, the Balkans, and America take center stage in this cosmopolitan and festive gathering.
The 9th Edition of the Festival
The 9th edition of the festival features six unique concerts, with eleven outstanding artists from Greece and abroad: Danae and Kiveli Dörken (piano), Katerina Chatzinikolaou (violin) – Alexia Mouza (piano), Jonian Ilias Kadesha (violin) – Noam Greenberg (piano), Narek Hakhnazaryan (cello) – Georgy Tchaidze (piano).
Music Education Program on Koufonisia Island
Albrecht Mayer (oboe), Jaan Ots (piano), and Claire Huangci (piano) are all outstanding artistic personalities, known for their musicality and directness in expression.
True to its musical education character, the Festival continues its music education program on the island. With the initiative of the Festival’s artistic director and the generous support of the Qualco Foundation, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the children of Koufonisia now have the opportunity to learn piano, guitar, and music theory.

Music Education Program in Koufonissi
The music education program in Koufonissi aims to provide children with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a systematic music education. Through both in-person and remote instrument lessons throughout the school year, the program offers scholarships, free musical instruments, and equipment to the children of Koufonissi. Educational trips are also organized to ensure a modern and high-quality educational framework for the participants, while limiting their financial contribution to a symbolic fee.
Furthermore, the collaboration with the State Philharmonic Orchestra allows students to participate in music performances and events, enhancing their love for music and providing them with the opportunity to develop their talent on a professional level.
Athens Orchestra Educational Program at Koufonisi
The Athens Orchestra continues this year, showcasing the strong relationship that has been established between the two entities, presenting an educational program for the children of Koufonisi during the new school year.

American pianist Claire Huangci has been building an international career since the age of nine, with concerts and competition wins under her belt. Captivating audiences with her brilliant technique, artistic sensitivity, and inspired storytelling, she showcases her versatility through a wide range of repertoire. Joining her is the Ukrainian pianist Serhiy Salov, whose technical prowess and explosive performance bring a unique musical journey to the heart of American music tradition.
