ANSA fines exceed 5 million lei for food safety violations
This year, the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) has imposed fines totaling over 5.104 million lei on economic agents caught violating the legislation and endangering consumer health. Specifically, ANSA inspectors conducted 10,628 state controls in the first half of the current year, including 5,237 unannounced inspections based on petitions, complaints, or self-notifications, and imposed 1,764 fines.
Approximately half or nearly 2.5 million lei of the total fines imposed have been paid. In addition to the minutes regarding the violations, 124 remediation plans were also drawn up, ANSA further reports.
