Passenger Traffic Surge at Chișinău International Airport
In July, Chișinău International Airport (AIC) reported an impressive total of 485,070 passengers embarking and disembarking, marking a substantial increase of 52.4% compared to the same month last year. Based on AIC’s statistics, the airport recorded 3,638 aircraft movements, including landings and takeoffs during this month.
Top Travel Destinations
Among the most popular travel spots for Moldovan travelers during this period was Antalya, Turkey, which attracted 26,212 passengers eager to enjoy the seaside. Following closely were the routes from Chișinău to London, with 19,969 travelers; Chișinău to Istanbul, serving 11,870 passengers; Chișinău to Tel Aviv, accommodating 8,675 travelers; Chișinău to Milan, with 9,299 passengers; Chișinău to Rome, attracting 7,757 individuals; Chișinău to Frankfurt, hosting 6,801 travelers; and Chișinău to Heraklion, which welcomed 4,842 passengers.
New Destinations and Cargo Transport
Additionally, over 6.5% of total passengers, equating to 31,745 individuals, traveled to newly introduced destinations in July. Notable figures included 8,536 passengers flying to Istanbul/Sabiha, 3,883 to Budapest, 3,775 to Riga, 3,169 to Enfidha, 2,910 to Athens, 2,698 to Cologne, 2,309 to Prague, and 2,088 to Stuttgart, along with 958 passengers heading to Dubai.
On the cargo front, the airport facilitated the transportation of approximately 232.8 tons in July, signifying a rise of 16.9% compared to the same month in the previous year.
