Implementing Solar Panels in National Guard Camps
Cyprus is set to embark on a new project that involves installing solar panels at National Guard camps and other military facilities. The initiative, spearheaded by Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas, is scheduled to commence in September and aims for completion by 2027.
Collaboration with Electricity Authority of Cyprus
Following a recent Cabinet meeting in Nicosia, Palmas revealed that a proposal for collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has been given the green light. The project, estimated to cost 19 million euros, will be fully funded by European grants.
Promoting Clean Energy
Palmas emphasized that this project aligns with the government’s objective to promote clean energy. By installing photovoltaic systems in National Guard camps and warehouses, the Ministry of Defense is actively contributing to this ambitious agenda. The initiative is part of the larger “Thaleia” project, with a deadline set for 2027.
