New Blood and Fresh Faces Debut on the Athens Stock Exchange
Recently, a new player made its debut on the Athens Stock Exchange: the promising Softweb, founded by Charalampos Dimitrakopoulos. The company entered the Alternative Market with the primary goal of increasing its presence in the information technology and software sector, a field that has seen the emergence of numerous diverse “leaders” in recent years.
Aiming for Steady Growth
Charalampos Dimitrakopoulos, along with Alexandros Asimakopoulos, established the technology company 16 years ago in Thessaloniki, Greece. Despite the prolonged economic crisis, Dimitrakopoulos witnessed consistent growth in both the size and portfolio of Softweb, which eventually positioned itself among the most rapidly developing tech firms in Greece.
The company’s management has set a significant goal: a steady annual revenue increase of at least 30%. Last year alone, the revenue surged by 42%, exceeding 1.5 million euros, leading to a substantial rise in net profits, which jumped to 244,257 euros from 106,900 euros in 2022.
A Promising Future
The founder and CEO, now 40 years old and holding 40.84% of the company’s shares (with 36.55% owned by Alexandros Asimakopoulos and the remainder in free float), has expanded Softweb’s reach to nine additional countries beyond Greece. To date, the company has completed 1,800 projects and serves a clientele of 1,100 businesses and organizations.
Looking ahead to 2024, Dimitrakopoulos aims to develop new products, enhance the profit margin (currently at 16.1% for 2023), and continue increasing revenue. His 12 years of experience at Entersoft, one of the leading forces in the industry, will undoubtedly aid in this endeavor.
Currently, Softweb’s market capitalization stands at just under 8 million euros, with the share price hovering around 1.5 euros. Whether the company will follow the successful paths of other IT firms like Epsilon Net, Entersoft, or Performance Technologies, which grew through the Alternative Market before establishing themselves in the Main Market, remains to be seen over time.
