Elon Musk announced the live discussion with Trump, scheduled for 8 PM ET today. Musk noted that the conversation will be unscripted, with no restrictions on topics, and is expected to be “highly entertaining.”

Trump’s Announcement on Truth Social
On Truth Social, Trump also announced his live meeting with Musk on August 6. Trump’s X account had been suspended by Twitter following the events of January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol. His account has since been restored by Musk after he acquired the platform. Musk has embraced conservative policies for some time, particularly regarding freedom of speech. He purchased Twitter in 2022 and rebranded it as X.
Support Following an Attack
Following an assassination attempt on Trump in July, Musk publicly expressed his support for him. The presidential candidate was injured during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13. He was shot in the ear during the attack, but shortly thereafter, his campaign reported that he was doing well.
On X, Musk shared a photo showing Trump immediately after the attack, where he urged people to fight. In another post, he stated that traditional media is a pure propaganda machine, while X serves as the source of truth and the voice of the people.
