Revisiting the All-Inclusive Model in Turkish Tourism
Representatives from Turkey’s tourism sector are once again advocating for a reassessment of the all-inclusive system, as reported by the daily newspaper “Hurriyet.” The publication highlights insights from Zafer Alkay, a businessman recognized as one of the pioneers behind this model in the 1990s. However, in recent years, Alkay has been vocal about the need for adjustments to this format.
According to Alkay, the all-inclusive system played a pivotal role in the growth of Turkey’s tourism industry. The achievements we have made thanks to this approach are undoubtedly significant. Nevertheless, as we navigate a new phase in the industry, it is essential to revisit and discuss this model, as noted by BTA. Tourists who seek high-quality products and services are naturally willing to pay for what they receive, he emphasized.
Prior discussions within the Turkish tourism sector have repeatedly proposed a reevaluation of the all-inclusive format. One alternative model suggested is a “pay as you use” approach, as pointed out by “Hurriyet.” Official statistics reveal that Turkey welcomed 56.7 million tourists last year, underscoring the importance of adapting to evolving consumer preferences.
