Turkish Tourists Lead in Macedonia’s Tourism Numbers
Turkish tourists continue to be the largest group of visitors in Macedonia. In June, the highest number of tourists came from Turkey (33,757), followed by Serbia (7,909) and the Netherlands (4,340). More than 3,000 tourists also arrived from Germany, Greece, and Poland, while over 2,000 tourists were registered from the USA, Romania, and Bulgaria.
In total, 119,751 tourists were registered in the country in June. Of these, 23% were domestic tourists, while 77% were international visitors. Tourists accounted for 245,249 overnight stays during the month. Among these, 27.6% were from domestic tourists, and 72.4% came from foreign tourists.
When comparing the number of overnight stays in the first six months of this year to the same period last year, there has been an increase of 9.9%. This includes a rise of 6.3% for domestic tourists and an increase of 11.8% for foreign tourists.
