Potential American Partnership for the Cebren Project
Prime Minister Christian Mickoski announced after today’s meeting with former U.S. National Intelligence Director Richard Grenell that the Cebren project may have an American partner in the future. Earlier this year, the 14th tender for the construction of the largest hydroelectric project on the Black River failed when the Greek company “Archirodon” did not sign the contract with the Ministry of Environment.
“Archirodon” was supposed to construct the hydroelectric power plant and share the profits with the Electric Power Company of Macedonia (ESM). Mickoski stated, “We analyzed the opportunities for utilizing potentials for future joint investments in projects significant for the region. In this context, the possibility of potential American participation in the energy project ‘Cebren’, which has strategic importance for the country’s energy independence, was considered,” he posted on social media.
The meeting also included Foreign Minister Timcho Mutsunski, with a focus on “opportunities for further strengthening relations with the United States.”
