Strengthening the Hellenic Competition Commission
Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos met with Irene Sharpe, the president of the Hellenic Competition Commission, to discuss plans for further strengthening the commission’s capabilities. The minister expressed his support for the commission’s work in ensuring the orderly functioning of the market.
After the meeting, Theodorikakos emphasized the importance of free competition in benefiting society and consumers. He highlighted the need for a strong and independent authority like the Competition Commission to guarantee free competition. The minister pledged to support the commission’s efforts and mentioned ongoing plans to recruit 25 new executives to enhance its efficiency.
Increasing Executive Recruitment in Government
Following the recent decision by the Minister of the Interior and the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, a recommendation will be made to the cabinet to recruit an additional 25 executives. These professionals come from diverse backgrounds such as science, economics, law, and information technology.
