New Transportation Restrictions at the Moldovan-Romanian Border
Starting from August 16, 2024, cargo transport vehicles will not be allowed to enter the Republic of Moldova through the Cahul – Oancea border crossing point. This restriction has been implemented by the Customs Service to streamline traffic at border posts, ensure efficient management of transport flows, and facilitate effective customs control using specialized equipment. Additionally, the decision takes into account the infrastructure of the border posts and access roads.
The Customs Service emphasizes that the Cahul – Oancea crossing will permit the exit of transport vehicles without cargo, specifically open-type trailers, covered trailers, containers, and tankers. However, the crossing of cargo transport vehicles, as well as thermal or refrigerated trailers and tankers without cargo, is prohibited.
Exceptions to these restrictions apply to authorized economic operators (AEOS/AEOF) when transporting goods in vehicles that are not thermal or refrigerated types.
