The Increase in Disposable Income in Greece
According to Eurostat, the average disposable income in Greece saw a significant increase last year. In real terms, the growth was estimated to be between 2% and 4%, while in nominal terms, it exceeded 5%.
This rise can be attributed to a variety of factors. Firstly, there was an increase in the basic salary for many workers. Additionally, freelancers and traders reported higher income levels, partly due to the widespread adoption of electronic payment methods. Government handout policies also played a role in boosting disposable income.
It is worth noting that this increase in real disposable income is particularly noteworthy when compared to the European Union average. Eurostat reported that at the EU level, the rise was a mere 0.2% in comparison to the previous year, indicating a stagnation in average disposable income across the region.
