Summer Sales in Greece
Summer sales have officially kicked off in Greece on Monday and will run until August 31. According to the current regulations, stores have the option to open this Sunday, July 14, the first Sunday of the sales period, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Analysts are optimistic about this year’s summer sales, expecting to surpass last year’s record of 7 billion euros in turnover for the months of July and August. Discounts at the beginning of the sales season are set to range from 30-50%, with a possibility of reaching up to 70% by the end of the two-month period.
The sectors that are projected to have the highest sales turnover during the summer period include clothing, shoes, beauty products, pharmaceuticals, watches, jewelry, furniture, home appliances, as well as electric and electronic equipment.
Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos visited the main shopping street in the Athens neighborhood of Agios Dimitrios on Monday. During his visit, he had conversations with local shop owners and employees, emphasizing the importance of the summer sales for the retail sector.
Summer Sales Kick Off with Consumer Empowerment
As the summer sales season begins, the government has announced its commitment to supporting both businesses and consumers through intensified market inspections. This initiative aims to ensure that healthy business practices are upheld while also protecting consumers from misleading discounts.
In a recent statement, a government spokesperson emphasized the importance of informed consumers in driving competition and lowering prices. By comparing prices and making purchases based on value, consumers have the power to influence the market in a positive way.
With the launch of this year’s summer sales, the government hopes for a successful period for both merchants and citizens. By promoting transparency and fair competition, they aim to create a marketplace where businesses thrive and consumers are protected.
