Reactivation of Block VI at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant
Close to a month after being prematurely shut down for planned maintenance, Block VI at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant is gradually returning to the power grid starting this morning. The block was stopped in mid-June due to malfunctions in the oil system of the block transformer 24/400kV (the non-nuclear part of the block), as well as indications of coolant leakage in the steam generator. According to the plant, after completing the necessary repairs, tests and trials of the equipment were conducted in accordance with safety requirements. Inspections and?
The Challenge of Steam Generator Leaks
Recent reports from independent experts and the Nuclear Regulatory Agency confirm the functionality of the equipment and systems at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. However, the recurring issue of steam generator leaks in the past few years has raised questions about the need for a new steam generator for Block 6, as well as the possibility of using equipment from the Belene Nuclear Power Plant. An analysis will be conducted to determine the feasibility of this option.
The only way to address this problem effectively is by sealing the leaks in the pipes. However, before this can be done, the leaks must be identified and explained, as stated by the plant’s director, Valentin.
Analysis of Construction Projects
According to a recent report by Economic.bg, the current situation regarding the completion of construction projects is looking promising. The percentage of completion is currently below 1%, while the project documentation indicates that everything is on track for up to 5% completion. This means that there is still ample opportunity to make progress and continue with the construction work.
