Construction activities on Hemus highway section between Boaza and Dermanci progressing slowly
The construction activities on a part of the Hemus highway are moving at a snail’s pace. The section between Boaza and the Dermanci interchange is only 68% complete, according to a press release from the Ministry of Regional Development. This progress is disappointing considering that the project was already behind schedule a few months ago. Minister Violeta Koritarova inspected the activities today.
The press release mainly focuses on the municipal projects being carried out in Dryanovo. Only the introductory paragraph is dedicated to the Hemus highway. Work is currently ongoing on the stretch between the 132nd kilometer.
Improving Road Infrastructure in Plevan
Construction work on the roads in Plevan is progressing well, with a focus on improving drainage systems and building new collectors. Concrete works are being carried out to ensure proper water drainage on the road connections, as stated in the press release. The specific kilometers mentioned are part of section 3, which includes the stretch from the end of the Plevan to Kalenik road to the junction with the Plevan – Lovech road, including the Plevan road interchange. The total length is just over 17 km.
By May, it was clear that the project was over 50% complete. However, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works has not provided an update on the progress in their latest press release. It was in May that the minister visited the site and expressed satisfaction with the work done so far.

In an interview with BTV, Minister Koritarova stated that work on Section 1 of the Boaza – Dermantsi road has been ongoing since the beginning of the construction season and 68% of it has been completed. Koritarova expressed confidence that activities will be finished by the end of the year. Previously, in January, former Minister Andrey Tsekov had mentioned the same completion percentage in response to a parliamentary question.
As of today, Section 1 of the road, from Boaza to Dermantsi, has been constructed to approximately 68%, as indicated in the latest press release from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
