Real Estate Transactions in the EU
Last year, the number of real estate transactions in residential properties decreased in 13 out of the 16 EU member states for which Eurostat had data.
Compared year on year, the largest decrease was observed in Luxembourg, while the biggest increase was in Cyprus. Slovenia also experienced one of the largest decreases, with the number of transactions decreasing by a fifth.
Last year marked the second consecutive year in which a decrease in the number of residential property sales was observed in most EU member states. In 2022, a decrease was observed in 10 member states.
Trends in Real Estate Transactions in Europe
According to Eurostat data, the largest decrease in the number of such transactions on an annual basis was recorded in Luxembourg, at 43.3%. This was followed by Austria (-26.4%), Hungary and Finland (-24.5%), and France (-21.5%).
Immediately after France is Slovenia, where the number of transactions for the sale of residential real estate decreased by 20%.
On the other hand, the largest increase in the number of transactions was observed in Cyprus – 31%. Growth was also recorded in Poland (+3.9%) and Ireland (+0.6%).
