Greece Faces Declining Population Numbers
Among the Southern European countries, Greece ranks as one of the worst in terms of demographic indicators. The report predicts that Greece’s population will decrease by 44,000 per year in the current decade, with even larger declines expected in the following decades.
By 2030-2039, the annual population decline is estimated to reach 68,000, and by 2040-2049, it is expected to increase to 71,000. This steady decrease in population size poses challenges for the country’s economy and social services.
