International Conference in Chișinău
Around 120 representatives from central banks and finance ministries of the member countries of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank gathered in Chișinău to analyze global economic developments, regional challenges, as well as ways to adopt from the experiences and policies of the IMF and the World Bank.
President Maia Sandu’s Message
In her address, President Maia Sandu emphasized that in recent years, despite numerous challenges, our country has become more resilient and stronger, thanks in part to the support from international partners such as the World Bank and IMF. She also highlighted that Moldova is at the forefront of the fight to protect democracy.
“Economic development and democracy are interdependent – economic progress is crucial for strengthening support for democracy, and democracy provides the most solid foundation for building a prosperous society,” said President Sandu.
Building a Strong Economy
The President of the country emphasized the importance of having a prosperous economy for the well-being of the citizens. She highlighted the need for policies that will contribute to economic growth, especially in the face of regional instability.
Strengthening Trust in State Institutions
Prime Minister Dorin Recean acknowledged the challenges of bridging the gap between reality and public perception. He stressed the importance of addressing citizens’ concerns and increasing their trust in government institutions through effective policies.
European Integration and Long-Term Transformation
The Prime Minister also discussed the latest developments in the country’s European integration process. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the transformation of the country is sustainable and irreversible.
Active Participation in International Processes
In conclusion, the Prime Minister reiterated the country’s desire to actively participate in international processes, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and cooperation for the country’s development.
Reconstruction of Ukraine
During a recent conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, international partners were urged to support the neighboring country even more actively. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from two international organizations – Kenji Okamura, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, and Antonella Bassani, Vice President for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank Group.

The Republic of Moldova has been part of the constituency led by Belgium and the Netherlands since August 12, 2012, alongside Andorra, Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Georgia, Israel, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Romania, and Ukraine.
