The Only Trout Farm in Moldova
The only trout farm in the Republic of Moldova is located in the village of Naslavcea, Ocnița district, and is managed by entrepreneur Dumitru Bîrlădean. The fish farm covers half a hectare, with seven basins and its own incubation station, producing 10-12 tons of fish annually. In addition to fish farming, the business also includes a guesthouse and a 60-hectare orchard.
The guesthouse, called “La Păstrăvărie,” features a hotel with seven rooms, a barbecue area, a camping area, and a special spa zone. The business employs 30 people, with an additional 120 seasonal workers hired during the harvest season.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who visited the trout farm on Thursday, praised the entrepreneur for developing a unique business in the local market, noting that there are still many opportunities to be seized in the tourism sector in Moldova.
