Turkish Airlines reaches compensation deal with International Aero Engines LLC
Turkish Airlines has recently reached a compensation agreement with International Aero Engines LLC (IAE) regarding the engines of certain Airbus aircraft. This deal aims to address operational issues related to the PW1100G-JM Engine powered A320/321NEO aircraft in the airline’s fleet.
With a fleet that includes 58 A321NEO and nine A321NEO jets, Turkish Airlines has been actively working to mitigate the impact of engine availability and related problems. The compensation settlement includes revisions to purchase and maintenance agreements between Turkish Airlines and IAE, as confirmed in a filing with Borsa İstanbul.
As of the end of May, Turkish Airlines operated a total of 456 aircraft, showing significant growth compared to the previous year’s 417. The seating capacity of the airline also increased by over 10% year-on-year, reaching 93,599 passengers in May.
In a move to enhance its global presence, Turkish Airlines recently placed an order with Boeing for four 777 Freighters. This strategic decision aims to further strengthen the airline’s position in the international market and enhance its cargo operations.
