Chișinău City Council Approves City Budget for the Year
The Chișinău City Council has finally approved a budget for the city for this year. The council voted on the budget today, after Mayor Ion Ceban’s administration accepted several proposals from opposition councilors, particularly from the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) faction.
Representatives from the National Alternative Movement in the City Council, a party led by Ceban, have described the decision as a “historic consensus,” emphasizing that “practically all PAS proposals were accepted.”
According to Zinaida Popa, the president of the PAS faction in the City Council, some of the accepted proposals include funding for extended program groups from the city budget, a 50 million lei increase in the budget for suburbs, a 50 million lei increase for courtyard blocks, an additional 30 million lei for the General Urban Plan, 25 million lei for the revitalization of the historic center, and more.
Mayor Ion Ceban Thanks Council Members for Voting on the Budget
In 2024, the budget was voted on. “Thank you to my colleagues, the council members who voted, and the residents of the capital,” wrote Mayor Ion Ceban briefly on Telegram. Earlier, he confirmed that he only discussed today with the PAS councilors and accepted the “vast majority of the proposals” of this faction.
