Submission of Bids for the Construction Project of Democritus University of Thrace
The Democritus University of Thrace’s construction project for “Student Residences, Educational, Research, and other facilities” with a budget of 105.4 million euros has entered the bidding phase. The decision for this project was made by the competent inter-ministerial committee in April 2020.
This is yet another construction project that has been designed, but the processes are moving at an extremely slow pace. According to the decision of Democritus University of Thrace, the deadline for submitting bids is October 15, 2024.
Interest Shown in Construction Projects by Various Companies
Several companies, including Aktor Concessions, Avax, GEK Terna, and Intrakat, as well as the consortium Metlen – ATES, have shown interest in participating in construction projects. However, based on the current information available from the competitions for student dormitories, it is likely that only a smaller number of companies will submit offers.
For both the student dormitories at the University of Crete and in Thessaly, which are the most advanced construction projects initiated in 2019 and 2020 respectively, only Intrakat has submitted an offer so far.
Student Housing and Research Center of Excellence in Thrace
The region of Thrace, according to the initial announcement, includes, among other things, the creation of student dormitories in Alexandroupoli and Komotini, along with university residences, as well as a Research Center of Excellence in Xanthi.
